Fixture Directions and Physio Services.
We run 7 Senior sides: 1st XV, 2nd XV, 3rd XV, 4th XV, Vets XV,
Colts XV and a Ladies XV. For information about the Ladies XV
please visit the Ladies
Section on our website and for info on the Colts please

on our website.
The 1st XV have played at level 5 or 6 in the RFU League
structure since the inception of the leagues in the late 1980s,
with the titles of those leagues changing regularly with RFU
reorganisations. Having had a couple of season in the doldrums
we are looking to improve this year with a strong side built
around young local players, many of whom have come through the
club’s excellent Mini and Junior / Colts set up.
The 2nd XV have been extremely successful in the last 7 or 8
years, moving out of the local pennant structure to play in the
National Clubs Association Midlands league (normally reserved
for 2nd XVs of clubs at levels 2, 3 and 4 and occasionally 5).
With the 1st XV playing at level 6 Derby won this league in
2005-6 and have regularly finished in the top 3. Unfortunately
the demise of this competition means that the “Beests” are back
in the Notts Pennant and looking strong in that competition.
The 3rd XV sometimes suffer for being the team just below the
‘serious’ sides, but the club is working hard to make the step
between this and the 2nd team smaller by raising its standard.
They also play in the Notts Pennant.
The 4th team play for fun but also manage to pick up plenty of
wins in the Notts Pennant and have an uncanny knack of finding
quality ‘ringers’ when necessary.
The Vets keep a “Corinthian spirit” in the club with away trips
in the Benz-Bavarian bus, stop-offs at decent watering holes on
the way back and sing-songs back at the club. But they are also
very competitive having won or come 2nd in their Notts Pennant
league in the last 3 seasons.
Head Coach for Derby RFC 2009/10 is Alan Dickens. Alan is
currently playing for Premiership side Northampton. Assistant
coaches are Paul McCartin and Matt Bates.
