Directions to other Rugby Clubs

Here's some directions info to a number of other Rugby Clubs. I cannot vouch that all of the directions are spot on (hic) and so if anyone finds something amiss on their travels then please write in and let me know and I'll make the necessary amendments - Brian.

From the North (M1 – J13) - Leave the Motorway at Junction 13. Turn left at the exit junction lights, onto the A421. Turn right at the next lights (for Ridgemont Station). Carry on past the Station into Ridgemont, and turn left at the top of the hill onto the A507 for Millbrook, Ampthill, and Flitwick. Stay on the A507 past Millbrook, then take the 1st left turn for Ampthill (B530, Woburn St .). Ampthill Park is on the left, with the Rugby Club on the Right.

Take the A52 from Derby heading west. Just before reaching Ashbourne, at the island, turn right towards the town centre.

Follow M6 South to Junction 6 (Spaghetti). Follow the signs for the A5127, signposted Sutton Coldfield. At the end of the slip road you come to a large Traffic Island, take the 2nd exit, Slade Road (Armada pub is on your right). Continue for approx 1.75 miles to a set of Traffic Lights (Stockland Pub is opposite left). Straight on onto Streetly Road, after approx 0.75 miles at Traffic Lights turn left onto Perry Common Road (O'Shea's Pub on right). After approx 0.75 miles at Traffic Lights turn right onto College Road. In 400yds there's a SEAT garage on your left, turn immediate left into Sunny Bank Avenue and the Club is directly ahead through the Red, White & Green gates.

Come off at J21 and turn off to the right at the bottom of the slip road, 3rd exit off roundabout A5460

Follow this for a few hundred meters to the next roundabout (big Marks and Spencer infront of you). At this roundabout right hand lane, heading right, 4th exit the B4114 (Narborough Road)

Follow this again for a few hundred meters, get into left hand lane, take the left slip road at the lights and turn left onto the A563 (Soar Valley Way), this is the ring road. You`ll have Fosse Park shopping centre on your left.

Go up the hill to the lights and straight over, still on A563, it will turn into Glenhills Way to the next big roundabout.

Middle lane to go straight over, 3rd exit, still following A563 (Atlee Way). Keep going down here, straight over the mini roundabout.

Straight over every other set of lights to the next roundabout (approx 2 miles) still along A563.

At the next roundabout you'll have Leicester race Course on your right and can see a Shell petrol station off to the left. Turn left onto the A6 towards the city centre.

Follow the A6 (London Road) till you reach a roundabout, straight over and your  are there. The park is on your left, the Old Horse Pub is just a hundred meters down on your right.

Changing rooms are in the pavillion (white building on the park on your left) Car Park is behind the pavillion, to get to it go to the set of lights and turn left, .then left into parking 100 meters along.

Travelling via M1: Leave M1 at Junction 13 and follow A421 to Bedford (roughly 10 miles), then continue along the A421 southern bypass. At the fourth exit on the bypass take a left turn and follow signs for (A428) to Bedford. Turn right at "MFI" roundabout into Norse Road. Continue straight ahead at all roundabouts (3), the Ath ground is approximately 1/2 mile on right hand side on Wentworth Drive.

From A1: take A421 dual carriageway to Bedford. At the A428 junction follow signs for the A428 to Bedford. Turn right at "MFI" roundabout into Norse Road. Continue straight ahead at all roundabouts (3), the Ath ground is approximately 1/2 mile on right hand side on Wentworth Drive.

Keep on the A6 through Allestree, Duffield and Milford. Follow the A6 into Belper and you will see Strutt's School (a big gothic building) on your right and Babington Hospital on the left hand side. Immediately after the car park for the hospital, you will see the entrance to the rugby club.

Bloxwich RFC is located on the A34 between Bloxwich Town Centre and Cannock. We are approximately a half-mile out of Bloxwich High Street, heading toward Cannock, just after the Bell Lane traffic lights. Our driveway entrance is between houses on the left hand side, approximately 50 metres after the lights. The driveway is flanked by tall "black & white" posts and is located between Frances Drive and the Royal Exchange Pub, but on the opposite side of the road.

At the Morrisons/TGI Fridays roundabout, signposted for Binley Woods and Coventry take a left turn towards Binley Woods(A428). The ground is on your immediate left hand side with its own slip road.

Using M1, M6, M42; M5 route. Leave M5 north at Junction 4. Take A491 signposted Stourbridge. Continue on the A491 until you reach Stourbridge ring road where you will pick up signs for Kingswinford & Wolverhampton. [still on the A491]. At the sixth set of traffic lights after leaving Stourbridge ring road turn left into Summerhill. [Kingswinford Cross ~ the Cross PH will be on your right]. At the next set of traffic lights turn right [Swindon Road]. Down to the bottom of the hill - straight on at the roundabout. Ground approx half a mile on the left. (approx 13 miles from M5 junction 4).

Dunstablians RFC is on the northern outskirts of Houghton Regis on the A5120 the road to Toddington. The M1 is close by at Junction 12 in Toddington for the North, or Junction 11 at Luton from the South.

From Dunstable, head north on the A5. Cross the roundabout on the Leighton Buzzard by-pass and then turn right, sign posted to Thorn. At the end of this road, the ground is opposite. Turn right to the car park entrance, which is on the left.

From Junction 12, turn towards Toddington. Stay on the A5120 through the village and continue for about 3 miles. The ground is on an 'S' bend just before you enter Houghton Regis

From Junction 11, turn towards Dunstable. At the Halfway House pub roundabout, turn right towards Houghton Regis. In the centre of the town, turn right at the Red Lion pub towards Toddington. The Club is half a mile further on, on the right before an 'S' bend.

From J24 off M1 take A6 towards Loughborough, after a couple miles turn left onto A6006 towards Melton Mowbray. Take 3rd left (signed to East Leake). Go straight on through the Village just as you exit East Leake the ground is on the right.

From the M1 – North or South.

Take Junction 30 and head for Worksop on the A619.

As you come into Worksop there is a roundabout with a garage and a Little Chef to the left.

Take the 4th Exit on the A57 to Retford.

Where the A57 joins the A1 take the first exit North on the A1.

Follow instructions below.

From the A1 – North or South.

Look for the sign for Retford and take the A620 past the prison on the left hand side.

Proceed down the hill and enter the Retford boundary.

As you enter, there is a left hand bend followed by a mini roundabout.

Take the 2nd exit i.e. to your right down Ordsall Road. It is sign posted “Rugby Club”

Follow the road for approximately 670 metres and the ground is on the right by the bus shelter.

Travelling from the M5 to Hereford - Take the M5 to junction 8 (M50). Head along the M50 to junction 2 (A438). At the top of the slip road turn right heading towards Ledbury and Hereford. Follow the A438 into Hereford. In the city centre the road becomes a dual-way and the market will be on your right, keep into the left lane. You will reach a roundabout, take the first exit (A49, Victoria Street). Just after the roundabout the road splits leading up to a set of traffic lights, stay left. After that set of lights, proceed down the A49 approximately 350 yards to the next set of traffic lights where you will be turning right into Barton Road. St Nicolas' Church will be on your right and you will see a sign for the Waterworks Museum. Proceed approximately 500 yards down Barton Road where, just over the railway bridge, you reach a left turn for Broomy Hill (also signposted for the Waterworks Museum). Approximately 150 yards down Broomy Hill you will reach a left turn into Belvedere Lane (signposted for Rugby Club, Wyeside). Travelling south to Hereford along the A49 - Follow the A49 into Hereford. Just after Edgar Street Stadium (Hereford United Football Club) you will reach a roundabout. Take the second exit (A49, Victoria Street). Just after the roundabout the road splits leading up to a set of traffic lights, stay left. After that set of lights, proceed down the A49 approximately 350 yards to the next set of traffic lights where you will be turning right into Barton Road. The prison is situated 3 miles from the rail station in Queen Street, Retford.

Car: The prison is 1 mile from the A1 and 13 miles from the M1 motorway.

Train: Retford is on the London-Edinburgh main line. Taxi from outside the station, or a short walk up Queen Street to Babworth Road (opposite the Catholic Church) where buses stop en route to the prison.

Take the A6096 from Derby to Ilkeston. At the mini roundabout outside the Bulls Head turn right for Stanton Works. Take the next left into Longfield Lane and follow this road for approx 1 mile. The Club is on your right.

M1 then M69 to end and pick up Coventry Eastern Bypass (A46) and follow to end, a large roundabout with A45. Take A45 for Birmingham (heading west) and after about 1 mile see exit for A46, Warwick (and Kenilworth). Head south on A46 and leave on A452 Leamington (second junction). Take signs for Kenilworth town centre (second exit) and come to large roundabout with a Jet Garage and Office in centre. Take 3rd exit onto Birches Lane and carry on, KRFC is about 0.5miles on RHS.

Go through the village until you see a restaurant called Castros on the right hand side. Leek RUFC is then on the St Edward's site (Redrow Homes) which is next left at the top of the bank  - Wall Lane Terrace. Follow the road (slowly please) until you reach the end and Leek RUFC is 50 metres to the left.

Follow A50 from Derby to Stoke-on-Trent. On approaching Meir Tunnel on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent , take A520 sign posted Leek, leaving A50 before the Tunnel, take right at the roundabout at the end of the slip road. Follow A520 for 1 mile (BEWARE of SPEED cameras) to Weston Coyney cross roads and traffic lights, St. Andrews church and Bargain Booze on the right. Straight across at the traffic lights, past the Blythe Spirit pub half a mile after the cross roads, on right hand side. Roughcote Lane is the second turning on the right after the Blythe Spirit pub approximately another half mile further on. Turn right into Roughcote Lane 400 metres up the hill, turn left at the first cross roads, the Club is immediately on the left.

From M5 Leave the motorway at Junction 7 and follow signs for A449 Malvern and Ross. After crossing River Severn, A449 is first exit. Follow for approximately 5 miles until entering Malvern. Go straight on at roundabout (Safeway on left, Seat dealership on right) and after half mile turn left into Spring Lane at lights (Texaco garage) - Rugby Club is signposted. After 400 yards MRFC is down slip road straight ahead as road bears to left.

Exit M1 at junction 27 - from island take 3rd exit A608 to Mansfield. Carry on up to lights and turn left on to A611. Stay on this road for several miles going through several sets of lights and across country until you reach lights at a T - junction with 'West Notts College of Further Education' on your right. Turn left on to the A60.

At next set of lights turn right on to Berry Hill Lane and keep going up to a T - junction with the 'Oak Tree' pub opposite. Turn right on to A617 Southwell Road.

Up to next set of lights with the 'Widecombe Fair' pub on your left and a Rover/Toyota dealership on your right. Turn left here on to Oak Tree Lane.

Go down hill over island (with 2 sets of pedestrian lights) through one set of lights and up to next set of lights, and turn right here. You will see a sign saying 'Mansfield Rugby Club - 1/2 mile on the right'. This is Eakring Road.

Follow the A52 from Derby through Nottingham and out to the junction with the A46 at Bingham. Turn left for Newark and follow the A46 around Newark to its junction with the A617 and A616. Take the first exit off this roundabout (A617) and the club is about 500 yards on the right.

Approach Rugby from the M6 turn off at junction 1 (A426) and head towards the town, continue along the dual carridgeway passing over 2 roundbouts, at the Public House and the entrance to the club is about 200 yards on your right.

From M1 - exit at Junction 15 and head towards Northampton on A45 dual carriageway.

Take left exit signposted to Northampton Town Centre and Bedford after crossing river Nene.

The slip road takes you down to the Bedford Road roundabout, take 2nd exit into Rushmere Road and the club is situated approximately ¼ mile on left.

Head towards Nottingham on A52  

Stay on A52 for about six miles, signposted Nottingham (City Centre)  

At the 4th roundabout, you will reach the ring road (A52)

Head South (right) on the Ring Road (A52) signposted to Melton, Birmingham etc.  

Stay on the Ring Road for about 2 miles, you will pass Showcase Cinema (right) and you will pass over the River Trent  

After passing the showcase Cinema move towards the right hand lane. The Ring Road splits in two directions. Follow signs for BIRMINGHAM A453 UNDER THE VIADUCT  

Immediately as you are going under the viaduct, split off to the left onto the roundabout

Take the right hand exit (B679) signposted to Wilford, West Bridgford  

Pass back under the Ring Road until you reach a junction with traffic lights 

Turn left at lights. Stay on this road for three quarters of a mile into Wilford Village  

Park on road next to Wilford Ferry Pub/Moderns Rugby Club  

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PUB CAR PARK

From the M1 - Exit the M1 at Junction 21.

Then at the roundabout go onto the M69.

Exit the M69 at the Junction 1 for the A5, Nuneaton and Hinckley.

Leave the roundabout and turn right, join the A5 Watling Street to Nuneaton.

Then stay on the road until you see signs for A47 Nuneaton and take a left next to the Longshoot Pub (use filter road).

You will reach a roundabout at the end of the A47. Take a left onto Eastboro Way. (Nuneaton RFC signposted and a Somerfield and The Acorn Pub are on the right of Eastboro Way).

You will then see Nuneaton RFC on your right. At the mini roundabout take a right onto Townsend Drive and the next Right onto Liberty Way. Gates are straight ahead.

Leave M1 at Junction 15 and head towards Northampton on A45 dual carriageway.

Take left exit signposted to Northampton Town Centre and Bedford after crossing river Nene.

Leave roundabout at 2nd exit into Rushmere Rd. Go past Northampton Old Scouts RFC after ¼ mile on left. Carry on to first set of traffic lights, turn left. 

Ground is 200yds on right opposite Northampton School for Boys. Coming from the east you should also make for the Bedford Road roundabout as above.

From the M1 junction 15, take the A45 towards Northampton and Wellingborough. Take the Great Doddington/Earls Barton slip road, turn left at end of this slip road, then left again at a small crossroads in approximately 800 metres. The Clubhouse and ground is on the right, after going over the dual carriageway about 500 metres along the road.
